Carrie & Lowell is the seventh studio album by American musician Sufjan Stevens, released through Asthmatic Kitty on March 31, 2015.

The songs were inspired by the death of Sufjan's mother, Carrie, and family trips to Oregon when Sufjan was a child. According to Stevens, the writing and recording of the album helped him to close and overcome the death of his mother. The album title includes a reference to his stepfather, Lowell.

The idea was to convey a dreamlike atmosphere that captured the lightness of the album's music. The album is a cathartic process to overcome the loss of someone, so the images are very delicate but full of meaning. From the fonts and color palette, to the composition, they were carefully thought out to convey the feeling of Sufjan Stevens' music.
