Week V
Further Development of the Project
This week I presented to Bex and Fiona my brief. For the creation of it, I have been looking at other briefs to fully understand the topics that I have to address. My problem statement was accepted by my lecturers, although is possible that after my research process, it evolves and narrows down more. Something new that I had to study was my customer persona for my target audience. As you may see in the brief down below, I chose a young woman between 17 to 25 that is studying at the moment and whose interests are set in Art History as well as feminism.
Fiona didn’t comment much on my brief, but she was quite helpful with my contact list. She recommended talking to Anne Fletcher, Director of the IMMA, who I think is going to be amazing to gather some insight on galleries’ point of view; as well as Tracey Emin, an eminence from the art world of the 80s, who is currently creating a foundation for women artists. Although I’m quite scared of talking with such important people, I would love to have the opportunity of sharing their knowledge and experience.
In Bex’s class, she recommended having my information backed up with secondary research and references, as it’s as important as my primary research. She also said it was interesting getting to know the influences that the Spanish curriculums have had to get to the point we are: what do politics have to do with it all? Finally, she also told me I should ask women what they have been studying at school in the past 10 years. All this research is going to be key for my literature review in the summative report.
Down below you will find attached my brief, as well as my contact list, which I will be updating in the next weeks.
After these past few days, I can finally gather a better understanding of my project and where I want it to go.

Between The Brackets: Outcome
“There isn’t anything inherently different about work created by artists of any particular gender - it’s more that society and its gatekeepers have always prioritised one group in history” (K. Hessel, 2022)
