ARTISTAS Project

After a stressful week trying to develop a new identity for my project, I can finally see where this project is taking me. In Monday’s presentation, my pitch about ARTISTAS had very positive feedback and support from my tutor Fiona and the rest of the class, and after class, I was filled with excitement and confidence for the future of ARTISTAS.

Change of Direction

This week has been very stressful for me, especially since I find myself in a position where I need to change the direction of my design project. With only two weeks left before I have to present it, this was a daunting task. Thankfully, I had a meeting with Fiona, and we were able to refocus the idea and highlight the points I needed to focus on moving forward.

Creative Solution

With this project, I aimed to increase the audience's familiarity with the showcased artists through an exhibition that explored their sense of self and identity.

Developing The Brand

This week is the starting point of the development process for my brand. Firstly, we will focus on the name, brainstorming different options and ideas that could adjust to the project's general language and feel.

Naming The Women

Could we name 5 women artists? From those, how many of them are contemporary? Do we actually know women artists prior to the 1900s?

Research Presentation Week

Overall, Monday's presentation went well. Fiona's feedback was brief but positive, although she did mention the need for more primary research.

Irish Context & Responses

In the eighth and penultimate week of this term, I find myself once again in a small block caused by poor time and personal life management.

Mock Presentation Week & Notes

During this seventh week dedicated to the final project, I’ve had to focus the direction of the project a little bit better. I have noticed a great lack of time in my life, which is causing the research to stall a bit.

Midterm Break Research

After weeks of complete anxiety and doubt regarding the final project, the mid-term break has been good for me to rest and work on my freelance projects. This week, whose days have passed faster than I would prefer, I wanted to start investigating towards the final product.

Further Development of the Major Project

This week I presented my brief to Fiona and Bex. For the creation of it, I have been looking at other briefs to fully understand the topics that I have to address.

The Brief and The Start of Research

“Having female references to whom we can look up to in the school’s agenda would have been very helpful when I was studying Graphic Design. We must demand parity in the academic agendas”.

Presenting our ideas

The presentation day went quite well for everyone. All the topics were incredibly interesting and I think everyone enjoyed listening to the rest of the pitches. In my case, I was very excited to tell my ideas to the class, and hear their opinions on them.

The three ways to approach a problem

Making quicker decisions needs for sure to be a priority for me this second term. I must speed up a little my thought and work process, and when it comes to deciding my idea for the Major Project, I’m trying to focus on that.

This first week was all about starting to think about the ideas for the Major Project. Over Christmas, different topics came to mind in an effortless way.
